Membership Assistant - SCAI

 

Position

Located in Washington, D.C. the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI) is seeking a highly motivated membership assistant. This newly created position is an excellent opportunity to jumpstart your membership career in a strong and growing organization. Reporting to the manager, membership & database, we will rely on you to help us achieve our annual recruitment and retention goals.

 

In this role you will assist in processing membership applications, filing credentialing documents, and helping members navigate the path to Fellowship in SCAI (FSCAI). Your typical day will include answering membership calls, recording payments, mailing invoices and dues notices, updating member records, and ensuring that the SCAI membership database is accurate and clean. Your excellent customer service, strong business writing skills, and ability to track administrative details will be truly valued.

Organization

The leading voice for interventional cardiology, SCAI is a 4,200-member professional organization representing invasive and interventional cardiologists in more than 75 countries. Our mission is to promote excellence in invasive/interventional cardiovascular medicine through physician and allied health professional education and representation, and advancement of quality standards to enhance patient care.

 

Responsibilities of the Membership Assistant

  • Answer telephone and e-mail inquiries about membership and credentialing.
  • Process and mail monthly dues notices.
  • Print and mail membership and FSCAI certificates.
  • Process new membership and FSCAI applications. Enter member information, process credit card payments, update records, file CV’s and letters of support, etc.
  • Perform data entry for address changes, membership status changes, and other updates to member records using established policies and procedures.
  • Conduct outbound customer service and membership related phone calls to renew members and update special audience lists.
  • Add new members and prospects collected from SCAI events or medical events into the database.
  • Assist the membership and database manager in compiling member data for reports.
  • Perform data entry, cross reference, and upload prospect lists to the association management system (AMS).
  • Export lists from the AMS to assist other departments and vendors.
  • Assist in coordinating the annual new member induction ceremony.
  • Represent SCAI at national medical meetings for membership recruitment and visibility.

 

Qualifications of the Membership Assistant

  • An associate’s or bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college with a minimum of two years of relevant work experience or a combination of education and relevant work experience equal to four or more years.
  • One or more years of experience working with database management/association management system (AMS).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically with Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and written communication skills, as well as exemplary telephone manners.
  • Strong business writing skills.
  • Ability to work well in a busy environment, set and meet deadlines, and manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Capable of maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Prior success in membership growth and retention in a nonprofit organization is a plus.
  • Ability to multitask and be flexible.
  • Team player with cooperative, positive, “can do” spirit.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
